Experiencing just simply arrived from Houston, on United Airlines Flight #503 to Colorado, I appeared to be dismayed at both United as well as the inconsiderate passengers who boarded with outsized ‘roller boards’ and carry-on totes. Many of the travelers obtained several! Exactly what occurred for the times of overnight cases and LITTLE soft-sided luggage? So it was no real shock to learn the ticket worker enlighten travelers when they were boarding with the 3rd and 4th groupings, there would be hardly any place in the overhead receptacles and, that when his or her luggage didn’t fit underneath the seats ahead of them, they would need to check them. Fortunately I was in the 2nd group and only had a netbook and compact, very soft and light-weight buckskin carrier carrier, which BTW Fits My Budget offers, see: (http://www.fitsmybudget.com/product.php?productid=16451&cat=346&page=1).
And so i got in line and continued to wait. And anxiously waited. The longer line ahead of me shifted little by little as classes waiting while travelers was battling to stuff their particular oversized hard-sided rolling luggage in small places. Certain had to pass their particular seats to look for an readily available bin. Err, I told myself, all these same classes will likely be holding up those of us parked in the back once we arrived, while they struggled again to get their particular luggage.
A flight attendant claimed that the flight could well be departing in 5 minutes and, I turned to the girl and said, “Yeah, right! Look at those OUTSIZED luggage!” She nodded and exasperatingly required that individuals swiftly take their particular seats. Four minutes after designated flying times, we moved clear of the gateway. Four minutes doesn’t seem to be very prolonged, but our push-away was unplanned and we sat 100 yards from the gateway for an additional 5 minutes. Err, I believed, they are able to record four minutes late for the FAA, but in simple fact, it was nearer to 10 minutes.
While airlines surely have size limitations for carry-on luggage, it is obvious that this size restriction should be revisited and, travelers should be held to number limitations, that when airlines expect to get back classes in and out of airplanes in regular basis
Needless to say, as I sit at this point creating this diatribe, I hate disembarking plus the prolonged hold up that will await me once we terrain when the 110 or so travelers with carry-ons that ought to have been checked, wrestle, ALL OVER AGAIN, while they get back luggage from the overhead containers, and waddle their particular way toward the door. Isn’t it too bad which often airlines aren’t timed on their disembarkation? I think important things may change. But hey, I actually got a complimentary carrier of pretzels and Starbuck’s flavored coffee on United, compared with my previous journey via American Airlines, in which they charged $5 for sandwiches and $3 for pretzels! I guess you can’t have it all!
